Hey Everyone and Happy Easter!
It’s Sandy here; I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s theme, when the DT members have been showing you cards they made several years old and their “retakes” of those. Personally I think it’s been really fun; it’s amazing to see the differences in styles and materials used. Like I wrote earlier this week; there’s definitely many more gorgeous products around these days, but that’s not all, it also of course comes down to how you work the materials into your card, and there I’m blown away by the DT member’s progress.
I know for sure that this has been a real challenge; it’s slightly embarrassing to show projects made years ago, even though one at that point of time might have been happy with the outcome. To show those cards again now takes courage, so I’d like to thank all the LLC DT Members for sharing your old cards with us even though you were cringing and most all wanted to go hiding under a stone. :-)

…and that’s exactly what I’d like to do now, LOL.
Ok, deep breath….
...here it is, my five year old card:
Good Grief!!! What’s up with that colour combo? Someone please tell me what I was thinking? LOL
Hmmm... maybe it's the consequence of being a child of the 70's; after all I grew up with orange kitchen cabinets and snot green wallpapers :-)
Thankfully things have change ever since…along came Maja and Pion Design, stunning dies & punches, cheese cloth, doilies, 3 dimensional flowers, charms, trinkets and so many more gorgeous embellishments!!!

I started blogging in January 2010 and this card was made in 2008, but by the look of it I must have followed a sketch that I found somewhere in blog land, so I thought it’d be fun to use the same sketch again.
So here's my retake:
Of course, I had to use papers from Maja Design's new Vintage Spring Basics collection.
They're all so pretty, the colours are just gorgeous. Here I've used some of the pink and blue sheets.

The image is called "Peek a Bunny" and when I bought it it was a Sugar Nellie stamp, but now I think you can buy her as a digi from Elisabeth Bell's digital collection.
As far as the coluring goes…back then I was using distress, I never really got the hang of it (maybe if You Tube would have been around, things might have been different), so I moved on to Copics. I’m still nowhere near the level I’d like to be at, but I keep on practising.
Puhhhhh; am I happy this ordeal is now over and I get to enjoy Easter... :-)
I hope you'll too, and just in case you haven't seen it already there's 10% off at the store this whole Easter weekend. Offer expires on Monday at midnight.
Hugz, Sandy xx
I think it's fair to say you've come on in leaps and bounds Sandy, your old card is sweet and your new card is FABULOUS! hugs Teresa xx
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how much our styles change and evovle isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI think that sometimes (especially looking back at my own work) that it's a truly good thing! Lol.xx
Oh Wow your Card is awesome! I am utterly in love with these new Maja papers. Yes you have moved on a lot since your older card, but I still like the colours (I am a Child of the 70's too - lol) I think they still work. Its nice and bright :) Hope you have a great Easter Weekend. Jen xxx
ReplyDeleteThis has been such an amazingly inspirational week seeing how everyone's work has changed and grown, developing with new products and new trends - it's just been brilliant. And thank you for sharing yours too, a lovely first card, but what a delicious remake!
